“Prepare as much as you can, and then SHIP IT!” 😬

“Prepare as much as you can, and then SHIP IT!” 😬

It’s easy for those of us in the consulting space, when we are helping a client with their project implementation because delays carry very tangible ££ or $$ signs to it.

It’s more difficult for in-house projects where internal admins are given multiple hats to wear, such as

#BusinessAnalysis and #ProjectManagement tasks such as #StakeholderManagement andΒ #ScopeManagement is rolled into their responsibilities with a massive weight of #Expectations tossed on top.

“Just add this feature into the release.” 😬

“Oh we forgot about this – we really need this thingamadoobop.” 😰

“Surely we can integrate this other doohicky with real time updates and decomission it in a coupla months.” 😱

It is definitely easier being the implementation partner in these situations.

So how do you stop a project from meandering when scope creep happens and the deadline keeps slipping?

Its like baking a cake.

You get all the ingredients together and assemble it according to project plan (recipe)but at some point you’ll need to stick it in the oven. πŸŽ‚

The best you can do is to

🍰 Have a plan

🍰 Prepare the right ingredients

🍰 Have Plan B, and C and D and so on…

🍰 Action according to plan

🍰 Take corrective measure when things go wrong (scrambled instead of sunny side up!πŸ˜‰)

🍰 BUNG IT IN THE OVEN AND SEE WHAT COMES OUT πŸ”₯ or πŸŽ‚

#SetExpectations

#SetStrongGovernance

And go-live! πŸš€

“But what if it goes wrong?”

Well then, you’ll have a lot to talk about during your post go-live lessons learned session, no?

I know of a 4 month project that became 23 months… Because of so many reasons. 😐

Sigh.

That’s why there’s MVP, POC and RAD.

Minimum Viable Product (MVP)

Proof Of Concept (POC)

Rapid Application Deployment (RAD)

YEAHHH I JUST LIKE TLA* BECAUSE IT MAKES ME THE CKIT** 😎

(cough) 😁

Anyway. You should get my second book and see how Unggu our client side project manager navigates their

#salesforce implementation to success.

It’s called “Successful Salesforce Projects 101” πŸ˜†

You can also get the one that helps the consulting partner set up for success.

That one is called “Salesforce Discovery 101”.

Both available at your nearest amazon store.

Have you got yours yet?
