Discernment, good judgement and critical thinking. ✨
I think those are the three things that will help the younger generation and future leaders of the world develop the skills of how to be happy with themselves which in turn helps them care about the welfare of others.
I find myself wondering about the future my sprogs will inhabit.
❓Will it be safe?
❓Will it be place they will thrive, survive or drown?
Apart from trying to inoculate the against “Bad Things Life Will Throw At Them” and educating them about what’s really important in relationships and life, there’s not much else I can do.
I can’t stop them from comparing themselves to social media influencers, but I can talk about it with them in a safe and non-judgmental way.
It’s still not easy.
These big tech companies make their 💰 from addicted eyeballs and deepening social anxieties feed their pocket.
Like Tristan said, I don’t have any easy answers but being self aware would be a good start.
“Why do I feel more anxiety when I’ve been doom scrolling on Insta?”
“Why do happy pictures and videos leave me feeling sad, angry and worthless?”
Dig deep and don’t shy away from the answers no matter how painful or uncomfortable they may be.
I think only then, can we break free of the toxic addiction social media shackles on our attention.
At least I hope so.
For the sakes of my sprogs and sproglings … 😐
Thanks for another thought provoking post Tristan Lombard ❤️
