Would you let your client/users design your data model? 😬

Would you let your client/users design your data model? 😬

There is really only one answer:

It depends on whether they know what they’re talking about.

Most of the time, an organisation hires a software partner to help them implement a product because They Know What They Are Talking about.

Or most of the time anyway (coughcough-lets-leave-the-bad-apples-for-another-post-coughcough) 💩🍎🤢

We discussed this in detail at our last #ZenClub session including how to deal with a client-side project manager (who is also a contractor who may have a #HiddenAgendaToExtendOwnContract?) 🤔

It depends on why you think they are doing what they are doing.

Are they even aware?

Your strategies will depend on what you find out – whether to go above their head, or help them out, or… there are plenty of other tactics that is at your disposal.

Power, politics and human behaviour feature heavily in the success or failure of any project. But of course we also discuss about the tech – which is where Piyusha Pilania comes in! (This solution architect, MVP and all round GoldenHoodie ❤️ talks about all things agentforce, slack, tableau, marketing cloud etc)

Anyway, I’ve decided share some insights of our discussion in this week’s newsletter (link to subscribe 👇🏻)

Would you let your client/end users design your implementation for you??

What happened?

Give me the deets!! 😆

When my client does that to me, I pull out my analogy about car chassis or tailoring a dress (am sure I can think up of more!). 🚗🚋👗🥻👖

Unless the client has a knowledgeable architect…

But even then…

What’s your strategy of dealing with this?
