Burnout is real.
When I left full-time employment to start Zenhao in 2020, I didn’t realise I would have such an awful boss!
She’s so demanding!
Every spare moment I had was working on the business non-stop! 😠
I was reading and learning as much as I could about sales and marketing, how to create online courses and edit videos, building my personal brand and reach.
Being a ‘solopreneur’ isn’t easy.
Since the beginning of 2025
– I spoke at 18 events
– Presented at TDX and 5 dreamin events
– Had 24 deep and vulnerable conversations for the #24in24forSams challenge in 24 hours
In the last 7 months, I wrote and published my most recent two books: Successful Salesforce Projects 101 and Salesforce Consulting 101.
Knee problems meant I couldn’t run anymore, which got me down.
Along with some personal challenges dealing with family and sprogs… it finally got me.
Burnout.
How did I know I had it?
I didn’t want to draw.
I didn’t want to work.
Nothing on my long list of podcast episodes appealed to me (even from my favourit peeps).
I. Really. Didn’t. Want. To. Do. Anything.
Except throw myself into my crossfit every day (scaling for my knee problems), hoping that the endorphins of physical activity would pull me out of my mire and rebalance me.
(It is my go-to coping mechanism)
After a few weeks, I feel like I AM emerging from this funk. 🌤️
So when Piyusha Pilania invited me and Lilith Van Biesen to talk about #Burnout, I said YES immediately!
I had also spoken with Silvia Denaro about this topic during my 24 hour marathon, a topic which has resonated with many based on comments and the DMs that came in.
If you want to join this important conversation on 10th Sept, sign up using the link in the comments (don’t forget to filter them by “most recent” as LinkedIn hides comments with URLs 😒)
And you know what?
It was way easier to manage my own mental load in my previous life when I had a boss who wasn’t myself. 🙄 Who’d have guessed it?
What’s been your experience with burnout?
