Flattered. Slightly befuddled. And a tad concerned. 😐
I found out that one of my followers have been using my doodles for their own purpose without telling me (though I am sure there are more).
I was initially flattered.
But I only found this out indirectly, and wondered why the person did not message to ask for permission (I gladly say OK to all who ask).
And then I found out that this person’s values aren’t totally aligned with mine, which then led me to feel a little.. concerned that they might be using my doodles in a way that I did not intend.
I can’t do anything about it though. 😕
Especially with AI training itself with Internet content (and I have LOADS of content – writing and doodles out there).
Which is why I feel that the Ghibli-fying of pictures is awful. 😖
No one’s asked Mr Miyazaki’s permission (in fact – he is quoted as saying artificial intelligence in animation “utterly disgusting” and “an insult to life itself” in an interview in 2016).
When I see a post with a Ghibli-fied picture, I am totally turned off. 😣
Because it tells me something about the poster.
Yes – we are in uncharted waters with the AI revolution, but we can still try to be thoughtful and kind in what we do and the way we do it.
Using someone else’s creation to contentify in your quest for thought leadershipfication is as endearing as dressing up your uncooked chicken in Salmonella sauce with Ghiblets, hoping to enchant your guests. 🤢
Don’t do it.
