“Given the opportunity – people will disappoint you by stealing, cheating, and generally doing unsavoury things.” said somebody-I-made-up. 😁
Seths.blog a few days ago talks about assuming goodwill.
Putting forth a posture of kindness and generosity without expectations of returns.
People have asked me why I provide my training for free for so many people (through competitions, for refugees, interns and graduates and those who are out of work).
Yes – there have been many who have not valued what I’ve provided, but that’s ok. Those who have truly taken on what I’ve given have amplified the impact that I seek to make.
Which is to help people who care, to create a future delivering software that makes a difference.
Salesforce consulting is a great place to be. ❤️
However, it is an inherently unkind system – especially given the time & materials commercial model. 💰
🍩People are more busy trying to build something within estimates so as not to blow the budget (but who can get estimates accurate the first time?) 🕝
🍩People are more intent on doing things quick and fast instead of focusing on quality and creativity of the solution. 🍎
🍩People are worried about getting sick and caring for family because it impacts utilisation (i.e. time worked on billable projects) which count towards bonus and performance reviews. 🙅🏻♀️
I am on a mission to help #SalesforcePartners put in systems that assumes goodwill, that are kind to the people who work for them.
As a leader, I am always very mindful that I am the steward of the souls who put their trust in me to create an environment that is safe and kind.
That’s how you create teams that build great things. 💪🏻
That’s how you run a business. 💞
Not by burning them out with projects after projects because you need to keep utilisation level high. 😖
I miss doing timesheets as much as I miss getting stabbed in the eyeball 👁️with a rusty knife.
Which is not at all. 😬
