I wonder if ‘mop up’ workshop sessions is just a British thing?

I wonder if ‘mop up’ workshop sessions is just a British thing?

We do that in some shape or form at the end of Discovery sessions, mainly to play back our understanding and clear up gaps and questions.

We have to be absolutely, crystally clear about the problem that we are helping the client to solve using #Salesforce.

There are times when the root of the problem is actually the ‘People’ part of ‘People Process Technology’ of the equation. 😐
And sadly, that’s not something we can help to change.

What we _can_ do, is to focus on the ‘Process’ part, especially when designing new ones because the new technology or platform will be able to do so much more.

“Lifting and shifting” 🚜🚜 is a term that’s used to describe a “copy paste” mindset of transposing processes from an old system to the new one without due care and attention to whether that is the right thing to do.

As consultants, part of our job is to gently probe to find out the real answers to the ‘why’ questions, so that we can get to the heart of the problem, to solve the problem that matters.

We have different workshop sessions for various streams in scope like data, supply chain, sales process, fulfilment, localisation and translation for global sites, etc etc etc. 🌍

Sometimes the work streams run in parallel, requiring the discovery team to re-group and validate findings to ensure alignment.
👉🏻¦¦¦¦👈🏻

That’s why we have ‘mop up’ sessions with the client towards the end of Discovery – to ensure that ALL of us, the stakeholders in the different workstreams and the Discovery team, are singing the right rock and roll chorus from the same hymn sheet. 🎸🎵🎷👼🏻

Right – someone save me from slaughtering the metaphors! 😁

I talk about this on my Consulting Discovery Masterclass, next one starting on 4 March!
