My organisation doesn’t see Salesforce as a business critical system

“My organisation doesn’t see Salesforce as a business critical system.”😲

My Technical Architect and myself were incredulous.
WHAAAAAT?

I mean, I don’t think that #Salesforce is the perfect product for everyone, but SURELY this global charity could see why a well designed CRM could accelerate their growth and make a huge impact to their mission?

Ermm – apparently not. 😬

This happened recently.

We were in the middle of a discovery, and the options were:

A) Short term focus with quick wins and low risk. Resource and budget commitment would be low i.e. stay on the Salesforce Non Profit Success Pack (which they are currently on) but which is eventually going to be superceded by…

B) Non Profit Cloud. This focuses on the long term viability of the solution, but requires significant investment from the client in terms of resources and financial commitment. Not to mention, this is a new cloud and the data model hasn’t been fully locked down. It’s a riskier and more uncertainty than option (A).

SURELY everyone could see why option (B) is the one to go for?

I mean, it’s like choosing to (A) stuff my face with a pile of 🍩 because I’m hungry, and (B) cook a healthy vege & protein-laden meal for long term health. 😅

SURELY (B) is better?

We’re talking about the long term strategy of a business critical platform, are we not? Which OBVIOUSLY means that option (B) is the right one.

As the English would say – “This is a no-brainer.”

But nope. That wasn’t the case. 😐

Once again, I’m reminded that we are all different, and how we show up is shaped by who we are and where we came from.
This applies to people as well as organisations.

In order to affect change, we must first stop talking.
We need to listen with empathy.
And we try to put ourselves in the other party’s position.

When we can see what they see, feel how they feel, and know what they know, then perhaps we can understand why they do what they do.

We just need to understand why Salesforce is currently sitting so low on their priority list, so that we can formulate a way forward from there.

As consultants, that’s our role as agents of change.

Our loyalty needs to be on the viability of the solution that should focus on providing long term business value for the client.

What’s currently happening in the middle east is utterly horrific, and my heart is ripped apart for those caught in the middle. 💔
