Ok – this is my POV 🤨
Best practices says to turn off validation rules when you migrate, but that means you have to be doubly careful that data is congruent and coherent and adheres to your workflow rules.
🍩But if you leave the validation on – then it might slow things up (which can be absolutely glacial)… so this needs to be a thoughtful considerations.
🍩Also – dates can be a PIG to migration 🐷
🍩Activity history – migrated data messes up created dates. I mean pfft. What else can I say about that 🙄
🍩Users need to be in the new system so that the right records can be linked up. Very annoying, but important to know.
🍩Identifying imported data – have a field to identify technical source and have it agreed as part of solution document.
