This is unacceptable.
If your boss, or project manager, or delivery lead asks you to do it, then ask them why?
If the company has underestimated the work to be done, and is charging the client less than they should – the company has to absorb the cost, not the consultant.
It is bad practice to make your team pay for your mistake, and I would be very wary if this is a pattern of behaviour.
It’s ok if you make mistakes once in awhile, but all work needs to be booked against the timesheet – even if it’s against an unbillable code.
This way, we can track how often it happens, and make sure that we get better at this #ProjectDelivery business.

If you keep up with the bad practices, you’ll find out that the good ones will walk, but perhaps not before you’ve done some serious damage to their mental and emotional health.😣
