“Should I do Marketing Cloud or CPQ?”
“Should my practice niche down or be an Expert of all Clouds?”
“What should my ultimate goal be?” 🤔
There are a couple of threads I’d like to pull on here.
1. I feel having an ultimate goal in life is Finite Game thinking. 🔚
The WHAT am I going to end up being.
The JOB, the TITLE, the THING I will be known for.
It can be a recipe for unhappiness as we grow and evolve and it may be the destination we have planned for the end of our journey no longer serves the person we have become.
2. Honing in on your WHY is a more robust way to craft your identity.
It does however, require a lot of self-reflection and introspection, an activity that can potentially be deeply uncomfortable if done correctly. 😬
We have many layers and facets to our identity with respect to the people we love and the things we do, driven by values that change ad time and experience changes who we are.
That’s why we should constantly ask ourselves about who we are and what we stand for.
And so, whenever I find myself wondering about my identity I’ll ask myself this question:
“Who is it I’m trying to be, and why?”

We’ve been visiting South Korea and have been having discussions with the kids about identity and culture which is why this has been on my mind.
But we are on our way home now. 🥰
I think I’d like to reclaim my identity as the happy owner/sleeper of my bed when I get home tonight. ☺️
