“This is crap work.”

How will you respond?

Will you get angry? 😡
Defensive? ☹
Upset? 😭
Curious? 🤔

Is being blunt a good thing or a bad thing?

The answer is… “It depends.”

I had a deep conversation with someone who was very forthcoming about their ADHD and autism diagnosis, and who confessed that they really liked living in Holland because everybody is blunt there.

No BS.
And no one took things personally.
It was really eye opening. 👀

Any neurotypical would be aghast at these type of statements.

“What’s wrong with you?!”
“Can’t you be more sensitive?!!”

Well maybe that’s their communication style and they meant no offense.

Next time you’re the recipient of a blunt remark, it might be useful to take a pause before you respond.

And remember that “He called my work crap!” is not a valid defense for murder. 😬
