“CAN I request you do a happy story video post next time..?” asks Jason Earnshaw.

“Can I ask… is consulting really that bad?” Silvia Denaro wonders.

I guess I deserve the comments! 😛
… given that my last few posts were about the not-so-bright-and-shiny side of consulting.

Yes! Of course there are many happy stories, and…
No! It can be so amazing!

You seasoned consultants know what I’m talking about. ☺

Even when working with the best #SalesforcePartners, you’ll get good projects, and ‘character-building’ projects.

The challenges will be diverse and interesting, and you’ll need to hone your leadership skills to ensure the group dynamics of your team blasts through the ‘storming’, ‘norming’ phases accelerates towards the ‘performing’ before kick-off to set up the project for success. 🚀

Once you get through the other side (and you will, along with lessons learned which may be painful!), you’ll have made lifelong friends.

This career provides all the elements of a great marvel adventure.
– Conflict from the start. ⚔
– A ragtag team thrown together through chance.
– Dysfuntional conflict gives way (somewhat) to more functional ‘debates’ 😆
– Final resolution or go-live 🎯

(Obviously there will be some projects that continue to limp along and bleed endlessly but we don’t talk about those. Not without much therapy and alcohol 😁)

Anyway, this is a happy post, so I wanted to share with you my reasons for staying in the game for as long as I have… it’s a great place to be!

Seasoned consultants – do you agree?
