Ahhh having difficult conversations.

Ahhh having difficult conversations.
It’s not suited for everyone.

Sometimes I don’t like it too, but there are times when it has got to be done.

I make things easier as much as possible by building rapport with people, so that they know that difficult conversations isn’t personal.

I go in and outline the situation, with possible options that my team will have discussed, as well as a recommendation in terms of how to move forward productively.

Personal attacks aren’t nice, and I’ve had quite a few of those encounters, but I just take my time and structure my breath to control my emotions.

Getting better at difficult conversations come with experience and practice.

And that’s why I’m designing my masterclasses to include loads of role play, so that you can practice in a safe environment and learn how to handle tough situations.

These will be geared towards #Salesforce consultants or admins who are keen to hone their people skills in order to run effective workshops.

As for me, I had to learn how to have those conversations pretty early in my PM career, and I discovered that building rapport and having emotional intelligence helped that a lot!

How are you at having these tough conversations?
