Dreamforce is coming

Dreamforce is coming, and lots of people are excitedly planning their trip. 🌟

But not everyone might be feeling the same way.

The #DF25 conferences will be full of high energy and hubbub that many can feel quite lost, especially if they feel isolated among the crowd.

In the past, I have had conversations with people at DF (at the canteen area and on the streets) and other community events where they’ve shared their vulnerability with me.

Of life and work trauma, loss and grief, where they have struggled to put a smile and their mask on during this crazy week in SF among clients, co-workers and friends.

Things are not hunky dory all the time, and as it’s World #MentalHealth day, it’s worth reminding each other of the importance to #BeKind.

So, what happens when someone calls a crisis phoneline like Samaritans?

What do they volunteers do when someone shares the struggles they are going through? 💔

I saw the post below and had to share, because what we do is no different than many other organisations like ours.

We listen.

We don’t judge.

We don’t try to solve their problems.

We give them space to share what they’ve been going through.

A space where they can put down the heavy load they’ve been carrying so they can rest awhile.

A space where they can breathe. 🌱

They have the permission to just… be.

And feel whatever they are feeling.

Mixed up, messy, contradictory, complicated emotions that make up the human existance.

And in that moment and in that space, they may be able to find a small sliver of hope so they can face another day.

If you’re in a good place, please check in with those who might be struggling.

If you’re having a tough time, and you haven’t anyone to listen – please call Samaritans 116 123 free phone from the UK, ore 988 for the Suicide Prevention phoneline in USA.

You don’t have to go through this alone. 🌹
