How to SPUFS (Set Projects Up For Success) 😁
Tip #6: Invest properly in Training and Support

Everyone’s excited about the new #Salesforce system that will help them
🍩 decide quicker
🍩 work better
🍩 collaborate faster
🍩 MAKE MORE MONEY! πŸ’²πŸ’²

Organisations jump on the next sexy thing in the horizon *cough*AI*
😬

They assume that everyone will jump on board and magical things will suddenly happen, forgetting the crucial element in #ChangeManagement and #UserAdoption
– buy in
– enrollement
– proper training, guidance and support.

That is why it’s crucial to run #TrainingNeedsAnalysis during discovery.

Alexander Lapa talks about the different ways training can be done:
– Trailhead
– In-app guidance
– Training videos
– Virtual and In-Person Training
– Support helpdesk (and champion users)

I think it’s important to generate excitement about the new platform so that users are enrolled in the vision, and are keen to seek out knowledge.

So much more can be done – ad-hoc lunch & learns, small groups helping each other to get more from the system for their day jobs, in-house meet-ups etc.

We need to find out how people learn, and meet them where they are.

That’s the only way to increase user adoption of your new system.

Who else have been ‘thrown into the deep end’ after some doing some basic digital modules and expected to perform?

OK. I think almost everyone else in the software consulting world will have raised their hands. 😬 (what does that say about our industry?!)

Training consultants is a bit more different, and requires immersive and shadow-based learning.

For Salesforce product and platform, users need a mixture of learning by seeing, hearing, doing, messing up, being corrected gently and gracefully, and supported into doing the right thing, the right way.

What do you think?
