I train new volunteers for #Samaritans

I train new volunteers for #Samaritans (a UK crisis phoneline).
I also train new #Salesforce consultants.

How they are different:
————————-
🍩 One helps organisations implement salesforce solutions ☁, and the other supports callers who are in distress 😞

🍩 One has a professional and commercial focus 📊, and the other is human centred 💚

How they are the same:
————————-
🍩 It can be deeply rewarding, but very challenging as well.

🍩 The role can be very demanding, either intellectually or emotionally. You need to have a resilient constitution to do it. (Otherwise you may struggle)

🍩 You need strong support from mentors and coaches to be able to succeed in the role.

Consulting isn’t for everyone, and neither is supporting people who could be feeling suicidal.
However, what you need to understand is that you are not a failure if you find out it’s not for you.

A fish that cannot climb a tree isn’t a failure. 🐟🌴
And neither is a bird that cannot do the breast stroke. 🦅

We all have our own strengths in different areas; you just need to find yours.

My branch will see a cohort of new trainees starting soon, and for the next 6 Saturdays, they will be immersed in one of the toughest training they will ever experience.

It is truly a journey of discovery that will help them be better listeners, and to understand how we do what we do to help save lives.

If you are in a good place in your life, and you feel that you want to do this – then check out your local Samaritans branch and find out about their next information day.

We are always looking out for new volunteers to help us make a difference.

And if you’re struggling, please call 116 123 freephone from the UK or call 988 for the Crisis phoneline in the USA

We see you.
We hear you.
And you matter. ❤
