I want to tell you that I see you.

I want to tell you that I see you.

When you call us but you’re too terrified to speak…

I want to tell you that I’m here for you and I know the courage it took for you to pick up the phone in the first place.

When you tell me, in your quiet voice, about the horrors that you went through as a child, and the memories that still imprison you …

When you tell me about the despair and mad grief you feel when you lost that person you love so deeply…

When you tell me about the life and dreams that your child will never experience, because of the fatal disease…

When you talk about the unimaginable things you’ve seen and experienced in the warzone, and the fact that you continue to experience it in daily flashbacks…

I want to sweep you up in my arms and hug you close.
I want to tell you that your story stabs me in the heart with the rawness of your pain.
I want to tell you that I can understand why you feel that you cannot go on living.
I want to tell you that I have a magic wand which will fix everything and make it all better.

But I cannot.

I can only be there for you, and hope that by letting you share the heavy burden in your heart and soul, that you are able to find the space to breathe.

Perhaps you will decide to not to make any decision tonight.
Perhaps you will decide to go to sleep and wake up to a new morning.

A beautiful sunrise.
The morning’s bird song.
Daffodils and tulips.
The smile of a stranger.

Perhaps you will find small reasons to live.

One day at a time.

I want to tell you that I see you.
And that you are not alone.🌹
