It can feel overwhelming

It can feel overwhelming when you hear about what’s happening in the world today.

Just listening to the news can spark anxiety in a way that make me want to shut my ears and bury my head. 🙈🙉

If only I was Hiro Nakamura – that time and space bending superhero from the Heroes series. 🦸

But I am not.

And there are a lot in the world I cannot control.

What I can do, is to find something that centres me.

Breathwork. 🌬️

Non Sleep Deep Rest protocols*

Even rhythmic strokes on the Ski Erg. ⛷️

And my favourite – doodling and colouring silly things.

There are callers on my #Samaritans shift tonight who are feeling overwhelmed with life events that they cannot control.

They are worried about the future.

What’s going to happen? 😔

How do I stop bad things from happening? 🚫

We need to be aware of what’s outside our locus of control –  where we cannot possibly influence the outcome.

And what’s inside that locus of control.

So we must find, or rediscover our inner joy. 🌻

Silly, whimsical and playful things do the important work of replenishing our soul, so that we can face another day. 🧚

That’s why people have pets.

Luckily the sprogs know that we are likely to replace them with furry pets when they leave home 😁🐶

What do you do to replenish your soul?
