Knock! Knock!

Knock! Knock!
Who’s there?
UAT
OMG U AT THE DOOR ALREADY?! I AM UNDRESSED AND NOT READY YET!!! 😨

😁
OK OK, it isn’t the best joke in the world, but it SHOULD BE! 😂

In fact, “How do we make UAT as smooth as possible?” was the actual question someone asked me just this week.

Well, in my world … 𝗦𝗺𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗵 = 𝗕𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴

Here are 5 Golden Rules to make UAT “boring” (or so smooth and drama-free that you’d kill to be on this project!) 😁

𝟭. 𝗦𝗲𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆.
This requires the courage to have #DifficultConversations early in the project lifecycle so that challenging issues can be addressed before they become smelly and messy. 💩

𝟮. 𝗦𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁’𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴.
This requires empathy and #ActiveListening, as well as being able to asking artful questions to gently peel back layers to get to the heart of discussions.

𝟯. 𝗗𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆.
This requires the ability to visually articulate the cilent’s processes in diagrams and document user stories with robust acceptance criteria. This will accelerate brain-synchronisation and emotional resonance that leads to a the next bit…

𝟰. 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗮 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹-𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰.
This requires domain knowledge and #Salesforce expertise as well as project delivery skills.

𝟱. 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝘂𝘀𝘁 #𝗤𝗔 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆.
When (1) is done right, when the QA strategy is discussed and agreed where clear expectations on how, when, who, what of testing has been set, getting the project over the line is really easy.

And that’s how you make UAT “boring”… and the overall project SUCCESSFUL! 🥰

Notice the constant theme of CLARITY and COMMUNICATION running through here.

Well, apart from the bad knock knock jokes from the PM 🤭 I’m sure that my team loves me more for my charm and winning smile instead of my sense of humour 😉

So anyway, how do YOU make UAT “boring”?
