My fitness goals have changed over time. 😊

My fitness goals have changed over time. 😊

20’s: Get skinnier.

My sister-in-law’s wedding dressmaker said I was too fat and she’d be making my dress an inch smaller all over so I had 2 months to lose the fat squeeze into that. 😳

And yes – I did the cambridge diet, did a lot of running and lived on about 800 calories daily and was UTTERLY miserable, regaining all the weight during the honeymoon when I stuffed my face to make up for it. 😣

30’s: Health & Fitness was not a priority.

Workaholiking, and then IVF and then twins, and then another sprog appeared…

40’s: Let’s get strong now

Wanted to lose baby fat so started weight training – but wanted to go HEAVY (My goal was to fireman-carry husband out of a burning household 😁 which could happen – given my kitchen disasters) 🤭

Result? Managed to squat 115kg (almost double my weight) and hurt myself badly, which took a long long time to heal (not quite there still). 😣

50’s: Let’s get functionally fit.

Early last year, Joey Chan introduced me to crossfit during Philipine Dreamin and that was it!! The bug was caught!! 😍

NOW – I focus on different KPIs:

🍩Ease/flexibility of movement

🍩Functional strength (OMG Sott Squat anyone?!)

🍩Stamina/Endurance

🍩Explosive power (I can now do 24″ box jumps!)

🍩Lack of body pain and aches (that is not related to workout)

🍩Recovery time

Ok I still can’t do a proper pull up or push up because of my elbow, or even double unders, but I can do wall walks and half toes to bar (and burpees – we seem to love them )🙄😆

Now I ask myself: Why is fitness one of my top priority, and why did I choose crossfit?

Well, it’s because I want Future Pei to thank Present Pei for keeping her strong enough and fit enough to enjoy life well into her old age, and have a ridiculous amount of fun doing it. 🥰

So the thing I’ve learned is: I need to pay attention to the WHY I’m doing something and whether that is working out for me so that I can make the needed corrections to lead to the right behaviour and ultimate outcomes.

Anyway I thought I’d write a non-worky non-salesforcey non-dreamforcey post 😁 and share with you… The #Crossfit Box Jump Pen Challenge!

This was my entry for team #CleanJerks at my local box intramural competition – and I have to say that I am enjoying it immensely (even if we will probably not win it!)

Anyway, I think I can at least check off the following KPI:

✔️ Having a ridiculous amount of fun! 🥰

What KPIs are you paying attention to – in your personal and professional life that is moving you forward?
