Someone recently told me: “ChatGPT can spit out user stories, acceptance criteria, and test cases. What do we need BAs for?”
Aha, young man, let me tell you. 😏
I was at Angela Wick‘s session on “Promotability in the Age of AI: Redefining BA Value” and she went deep on how our value has fundamentally changed.
There’s a lot of conversation about AI eroding jobs for developers.
And some think BAs won’t be required either.
I think that because of our soft skills, because of our human skills, we are probably more evolutionarily stronger than developers in the age of AI.
Think Pokémon evolution. 🐉
I strongly believe that
We’re not being replaced.
We’re evolving into Gen 2.
Or Level 2.
Whatever – A more powerful version of ourselves.
Our #BusinessAnalysis role shifts from documenting perfect logic trees to defining intent, ranges of acceptability, and monitoring AI performance.
We now need to be #TheAIOrchestrator (I think I am going to trademark that!!)
Someone has to be the human who connects it all, who asks the critical questions, who ensures AI performs within acceptable ranges.
That’s us.
We’re using AI to augment our work.
To evolve and to become more strategic and more valuable.
Put it this way – I think #BusinessAnslysts will survive longer than developers… like cockroaches but not so disgusting 😬
(And yes, I said this in the BA group where there were no developers. 🤭)
The pokemon comments in the chat cracked me up tho 😂
Am having such a great time at our monthly
#BadAssBA meetups with Vanessa Grant.
Thank you Beech H. Anh Phuong Ta and Christopher Sauer for the comedic relief in the chatroom!!!
