The flea that was kept in a box

The flea that was kept in a box and stayed there even though the lid was lifted.

The elephant who didn’t escape even though the shackles were removed.

Those of us who have been kept small, told we are not smart enough, not adequate enough, not worthy enough, will continue to believe it all in some shape or form.

They don’t have to be big statements like, “You’re stupid.”

They could be small ones.

“Are you sure you’re up to it?”

“Let the other kids do it. You could get hurt in the playground.”

“You shouldn’t audition for the lead part. You are never going to get it and you’ll just get hurt in the process. Besides, you make a better tree.”

“You’re a girl. You make a better cook than boys. Maybe aim to be a chef instead of an engineer.”

There are loads of examples.

As a parent I try to be mindful of my words.
As a mentor and a leader, I try to lead by example.

#BeKind to yourself.

Whether or not you will reach the stars is secondary.
What’s important is that you allow yourself to be dream, and to know that you are fully capable.

I’m not a billionairess not because I can’t, but because I don’t want to. 😌😆
*cough*

What I’m trying to say is that a Growth Mindset is absolutely one of the best gifts I can give my kids.
