We are always playing games

We are always playing games.
Little games, big games.
Games with many players.
Games where the rules are known. Or not.
Games where you play on someone else’s board, and their rules.
Games where you are playing alone, with your own rules, on your own board.

Seth Godin talks about the games we play (podcast link 👇🏻)

There is only one ultimate meta game that counts.
The one game where there is only one life.
No respawns.

That led me to think about Simon Sinek and Infinite Games.
It’s the last day of the year.
Everyone’s doing new year resolutions, but I’ve always found that if I wanted to change something about me, I’d just go ahead and do it.

But as a thought exercise, what would I change in 2022?
I think I’m just going to do more of what I’ve been doing.

For the whole of me, more of the following –
Grow.
Learn.
Read.
Write.
Draw.
Create.
Build.
Teach.
Share.

For my body –
Get stronger.
Get fitter.

And most of all –
Be aware.
Be kind.
Be here.

I know goals have to be SMART, but only if I view it as a finite objective, of something I have to achieve by the end of next year.

Viewing my life as an Infinite game, I am choosing to finesse the process of living well. It’s my board, my game, my rules – and I intend to have fun as long as I can!

As there’s only one life, I’m absolutely going to make it count.

That’s the game I am playing 😎
How about you?
