What’s a ‘Rule of Thumb’? 👍🏻
It’s a broadly accurate guide based on practice and experience rather than theory.
To run really effective workshops, the rule of thumb on estimating the time it takes to do that is the 40-20-40 rule.
That is broadly correct.
When #Salesforce partners estimate discovery and design based on scope of work, the prep and analysis time is rarely factored in. 😐
No wonder the consultants are usually under immense pressure to deliver, working late into the night and weekends to prep, read up on material and plan workshop questions…. 😫
… And THEN again after the workshop to collate and write-up the findings, as well as design the solution and document that!
PHEW! 😓
Luckily I’ve worked with some amazing partners that understood this.
As a Project Manager, I’ve been able to influence the proposal and help factor in proper timings so that my team can do an outstanding job during Discoveries without killing themselves in the process.
We don’t want no dead bodies reported on my project! ඞඞඞ
(It’s an AmongUs reference, for those with lil ninjas who play this game😁)
I discuss what it takes to prepare for workshops, how to run them, and what to do afterwards on my Consulting Discovery Masterclasses starting on 4 March.
If you fancy winning a free spot, it’s not too late to join the #PeiItForward challenge!
All you need to do is to blitz trailhead and try and rack as many points before 21 Feb!
See below for rules 👇🏻
#SalesforceConsultants – what do you think on my rule of thumb? What would your ratio be?
10-80-10?
0-100-50? 😱 Ok this is just bad maths.
What’s your number?
