Why did I choose this payment option

Why did I choose this payment option?
Why does this message sound more appealing than the other copy?
Why did I donate this amount and not that one?

Human behavior is absolutely fascinating to me.

Try as I might to be conscious and purposeful in my thoughts and my behaviour, and to apply #CriticalThinking and the #stoic philosophy of living, it still surprised me that there were decisions I made that weren’t a result of a thoughtful process.

This week, I attended a stimulating workshop on behavioural psychology and the science of decision making by Richard Shotton from Astroten.

What an eye opener.
An example of what we discussed was pricing.

I thought very long and hard about the pricing of my upcoming membership site and came up with a price that I felt reflected the value of my offering*:
One discounted lifetime for the founding members on launch week, which will then go up in the next registration round.

I didn’t want to provide an option for an annual discounted price that locked anyone in for longer than they wanted to be.

The problem (that I found out)… is that:
People like having choices.

Perhaps I am doing myself no favours by having just the one price.
Should I provide two tiers – a basic and pro membership?
Or maybe add a third one that’s so crazy silly, that people will choose the “right” one?

I can understand why this works, but after thinking about this long and hard, I decided against it.
At least not on the pricing of my offering.

I believe that
– I am providing value that is over and above the price.
– those who see my value will pay me fairly for my work, and what I can offer.

I am creating a Leadership Academy for Consulting and Project Delivery Excellence – specifically for #Salesforce consultants.

I made this for them.

I am doing work that matters for people who care.
I will provide value to those who are enrolled on this journey with me.
I will continue to show up consistently, and to keep on being who I am

I will do me, in the best way I know how.

The workshop taught me that I am probably choosing a more difficult route to get to I want to go, but that’s ok.

This time, I am making this decision deliberately and purposefully.
(although I will change my strategy if the situation warrants it 😊)

When was the last time you’ve made a decision that you know will mean a bigger hill for you to climb to get to where you want to go?
