Why do the birds keep on singing?

Why do the birds keep on singing?
Why do the stars glow above?
Don’t they know it’s the end of the world
It ended when I lost your love.

I wake up in the morning and I wonder
Why everything was the same as it was
I can’t understand, no I can’t understand
Why life goes on the way it does.

Why does my heart go on beating
Why do these eyes of mine cry
Don’t they know, it’s the end of the world
It ended when you said goodbye.

End of the world – Skeeter Davies.

As a volunteer listener for hashtag#Samaritans on my regular twilight shift that runs past midnight, I find that many of my callers are bereaved.

During the day, they might keep themselves busy but it’s the night time that they feel the loss of their loved ones so very very deeply.

Especially when it’s just happened recently, there might be a surreal sense of confusion about why the rest of the world doesn’t seem to understand that things are now different.

Don’t they know that this is now the After?
After the loss?
And how this new reality After is different from Before? 💔

But life goes on.
The world keeps on spinning.
Even if it’s stopped for them.

Grieving is an intensely personal journey and there is no timeline for healing.

If you need to talk to someone, please call Samaritans freephone 116 123 from the UK or 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline from trh USA.

You don’t have to go through this alone. 🌹
