“You’re an evil genius and I would love to be your sidekick!”😈
“You’re awesome that’s why you’re my BFF!”
“You always help me at maths. 🤓”
“You’re so funny and you tell the best ‘knock knock’ jokes!”
“You were kind to me when I hurt my finger.”
“I love your curly hair because they make you look like an angel.” 😇
Last week, I was teacher for a day.
Ninja 3’s school had a wellbeing day, and asked if parents wanted to help or even lead an activity.
I wanted an opportunity to talk about #kindness and tell them about #Samaritans so I ran a #KindnessProject.
We started by talking about the things that made us happy…
– Ice cream 🍦
– Playing football ⚽
– spending time with family 👨👩👧👧
– being told we are loved ❤
– knowing we are enough 🍩
We talked about what it meant to have someone be kind to us, and how that filled our metaphorical bucket* 🌈
And so the exercise was to fill buckets by writing compliments and all the things that they love about their classmates.
Some of the post-its were cracking gems!
“You have the sickest FIFA dance twerk!” 😄
It’s just like running a Discovery workshop, except we had little humans excitedly “filling buckets” using post-its on the wall.
Not only were they energized by thinking up lovely things to write for their classmates, but they were over the moon with what they got to bring home: a sheetful of beautiful things that were said about them! 🥰
They also learned about Samaritans and about what they could do if they are hurting and they didn’t have anyone to talk to.
I got them to memorized the freephone number 116 123 which they could use, but only for serious things.
1️⃣ 1️⃣ 6️⃣ 1️⃣ 2️⃣ 3️⃣
It’s definitely not for if they’ve been told off for not doing homework or being naughty! 😁
What was really cute was that some of the little ones scribbled the number on their hand to tell their parents!!
So I spent the week filling my bucket by teaching and getting little ninjas to practice kindness. ❤❤❤
How has your week been?
Mine’s been absolutely donut-ful! 😍
