Chucking fresh recruits into the deep end to identify the ‘swimmers’ and ‘sinkers’. 😫
I had a no-holds barred conversation about the brutal world of #Salesforce consulting with seasoned consultants Ernest Wong, Otis Lee and Klause on board the Flosum and Provar San Francisco boat cruise.
“They take young, energetic, naive new people, work them to the bone and then chuck them out,” said Ernest wryly.
We violently agreed.
Multiple times.
Yes, the consulting world can be incredibly brutal.
At braindate with Stuart Mills about how to lead change, he identified that I was trying to create a movement when I talked about wanting to change the culture of the consulting world to
– be a kinder place to work
– care more about delivering quality solutions than billable hours.
It’s really hard.
Sometimes I feel like Atlas, pushing a boulder up a mountain.
It feels like an impossible task.
However… later that day, I spoke to two founders and leaders of #SalesforcePartners who are deeply keen to be different.
To build a great team who are proud to work there.
To grow an organisation that makes a real difference to the world. 💞
And they wanted me to help them get there! 🥰
Here at #DF23, I have been having really deep conversations about the things that matter. Like Regression Testing and how QA needs to be more front and centre of all projects (Thank you Eleanor Dearing ❤)
Thank you Ernest, Otis and Klause for a wonderful conversation which was so engrossing that I didn’t catch any of the sights of San Francisco bay! 😬
Not sorry though, because it was totally worth it.
Anyway, what I’m taking away so far is that drip-by-drip, little-by-little, I can make the impossible task possible.
I just need to Keep F*cking Going. 🌻
