Depression is an illness.

Depression is an illness.

Those who suffer from this debilitating illness may feel unbearable pain in their life, and sometimes that can lead to really dark thoughts.

Sometimes a life event may be the cause.
Loss of someone they’ve loved deeply.
Or trauma.
Or many other reasons that we cannot even begin to fathom.

They may feel that there’s no way out of this pitch black darkness.
There’s no hope of things getting better.
They may also believe that no one would miss them if they were gone.

And that the world would be better off without them. 💔

This illness is often treated with medication…
But sometimes what’s needed is
A listening ear.
A kind word.
A safe space.

I am under no illusion that this can solve their immediate problem, but being able to talk about their darkest fears about life and death can sometimes mean the world to our callers.

If you’re in a good place, you might want to check in with the people around you.

Better yet, you might want to think about volunteering for a charity like #Samaritans.

If you’re struggling, please call Samaritans 116 123 freephone from the UK.
If you’re in the US, you can call 998 toll-free.

You don’t have to go through this alone. 🌹
