Don’t like big school

“Don’t like big school.” 🚸

“You mean I can’t just do anything I like now that I’ve got a baby?!”👶

“Mum and dad are getting a divorce. Even though they were fighting every day and things were bad, the future is still scary.” 😰

How people view change depends on their resiliency and what change has been for them in the past.

When people grow up in safe and stable environments, change is viewed as an exciting event. An adventure that promises thrills and mystery where the unknown is meant to be explored and conquered.

For others, change have been much scarier, bringing with it loss and trauma.

Before we tell anyone to “Go with the flow” or “seize the opportunity” or “Change or be changed” or any such platitude (especially with the awful things that has been happening lately), maybe we should take a moment to understand how people are feeling.

“Be positive! This will all work out for the best!”
😐

If you want to help, just walk with them.
Understand how they view change, and why they are feeling what they are feeling.

Everything begins with trying to see the world from the other person’s viewpoint.

It’s only then, that I can begin to understand the vast diversity of the human condition.

This applies to dealing with the insecurity of job loss, as well as project delivery.

Understanding the human nature when it comes to facing change is key in helping us make progress.
