How to SPUFS (Set Projects Up For Success)

How to SPUFS (Set Projects Up For Success) 😁
Tip #4: Business Lingo over Tech Jargon – always!

“Are we talking about Salesforce roles or profiles, or sharing rules?”

Alexander Lapa and I are currently in Discovery and this question came up while we are doing the Visibility & Security workshop with the client stakeholders.

“Let’s just talk about the persona, or the hats people have to wear, and what type of access they require to do their job properly.”

I was really pleased to see Alexander Lapa re-direct the conversation to focus on business need.

“Don’t worry about the technical parts of this requirement. Just tell me what you would like it to do.”

Obviously we can speak the same technical language if the client is absolutely au fait with Salesforce product which can make it so much easier to gather requirements and design and build the right solution.
However that’s rarely the case.

There’s a chinese saying: When there is miscommunication happening, it’s like the chicken and duck talking. 🐤🦆

If you’re the chicken, make sure you’re speaking duck when talking to your fowl aquatic feathered friend. 😁

ps: Ok I tried but failed to draw a stick chicken and duck that I was happy with, so have decided on SquareHead and TriangleHead doodlepeople ok 🙄😆 I think it still makes a point though!
