Preparing for a new Salesforce Consultant

Preparing for a new Salesforce Consultant role Tip 1/12
Understanding Expectations

Quite a few people in my network have landed Consulting roles to start in the new year, and have asked me how they should prepare. Those who have done my Consulting Delivery Masterclasses are going to miles ahead of those who haven’t. 😊

However, in my most recent newsletter – I wrote down the 12 tips things that new Salesforce Consultant should focus on (link to subscribe to my newsletter 👇🏻)

First tip – understand initial expectations.

Ideally, you should have already asked a version of this question during your interview to find out what is expected in the first week, 30 days, 60 days?

Ask lots of questions.

This is the only way to know what’s expected so that you can put together a plan as to how to meet and surpass them.

I used to run Induction Days at Capgemini for the Salesforce Business Unit, where I saw it as “Expectation Setting” Day – for both parties.

The new recruits were encouraged to talk about what they were expecting from their employment, and I would address any concerns or questions.

In return, I shared the expectations for their role, and especially as an Engagement Manager (Cap’s term for a Project Manager), I could tell them what I would expect of them, if they were on my project.

I will detail the other 11 tips over the next couple of weeks, such as your first project, and key people who will be able to influence the quality of your professional life in this domain.

The first one is key though – understand expectations!
And I can confidently say that none of the #Salesforce Partners I know runs Gills to Lung Transition programme during their Inductions! 😁

Stay tuned for tomorrow’s tip!
