Role play can be quite hard

Role play can be quite hard, and nerve wracking!
However, Talia Johnson ☁️ and Bryan Bemis did a sterling job playing a Developer and a QA who are facing some tension in their working relationship. 😍

Bryan played Alan, the self-taught developer who had just joined a consulting partner, and having some challenges working with the team.

Talia did a great job of playing Bob, the QA who is in charge of quality, and trying to find a way to talk to Alan about how finding defects isn’t a personal attack.

It was a riveting role-play exercise on team dynamics and conflict and Talia used a lot of empathetic active listening to help defuse the situation.

In fact, I cover this in my Consulting Masterclass (details below 👇🏻)
Active listening involves
– reflecting
– paraphrasing
– empathy
– being non-judgemental
Most of all though, it involves caring about the other person and trying to understand their worldview and how .

In fact, Bryan had to try very hard to stay in character and stay angry 😂

Personality conflict is common, more so when we come from diverse background and our experience follows us.
From our habits, our ways of working and looking at the world to the way we approach problems.

Understanding this allows us to avoid dysfunctional conflicts.
Healthy conflicts are the only conflicts we want!

This session yesterday (called This Thing Every Other Friday) is open to Zenhao Academy members who are keen to become outstanding #Salesforce Consultants, by enhancing their soft skills through active learning, discussing and working.

Zenhao members – you can access the scenarios used for the role plays as well as yesterday’s recording and transcripts in the Q&A portal in the TTEOF section.

I can’t wait to see who else has hidden acting skills as we do more role plays! I will need to come up with more diabolical scenarios muahaha 😈
