She had an amazing personality, and performed the role of a ‘Senior Project Manager’ in a crisis meeting with a customer like a pro.
She dealt with angry customer (played by me) and smoothly de-escalated the situation and finished up with a good action plan.
But.
There were a few things in her CV that didn’t stack up, citing experience with non-existent versions of Dynamics CRM in various organisations. Implementing certain functions which I knew was not technically possible at that time.
I discussed with my co-interviewer, a senior Programme Director. He too was very much blown away with the candidate’s performance.
She was very polished, and had an air of gravitas about her, and we were very sure she would have been able to do the job.
But.
The discrepancies.
When queried, her facade dropped and she stumbled a little.
We did not offer her the role.
I believe that if it’s not a straight “Yes”, it’s a “No.”
I cannot surround myself with people who lack integrity, because that would compromise what I value most with people around me – Trust.
