Sunk Cost Fallacy

When you put in time, money, effort, love, and intensity into something… And you get nothing out… It hurts.

You may have spent years doing a law degree and climbing up the ladder and you realise that you hate it.
You prefer to be a writer and pen that novel that’s been sitting inside you.🖋️📖
What should you do?

Or that you’ve been married for decades, only to realise that his values have never matched yours where it counted.
Your union is more like roomies than a marital one. 😳
But…. he’s a good provider, and he is a nice guy.
Should you stay, or should you go?

A lot of people would be more (A) in how they approach these problems.

Regardless of the cost you’ve spent, you now need to draw a line and make a decision based on what you know now.

Yes, doing a (B) may mean chucking away everything you’ve spent so far to change direction.

But think about it.

You’ve grown increasingly unhappy because what’s happening is not aligned to your true path.

Finding your true path is a journey of self discovery, to try things, to fail, to find the things that bring joy and meaning to Life.

If what you’re doing isn’t bringing you joy or giving you a purpose, then you need to evaluate.
And then you have to make a decision.
Just don’t let “Sunk Cost” be the thing that influences you.

Life is short.

At the end of the day, I ask myself
Did I love?
Did I laugh?
Did I matter?

If it’s Yes to all three, then I made the right choice.

Happy Sunday all.
