Thank you Chamara Somaratne for your thoughtful comment on my previous post about AI.
This made me dig deeper into what my concerns are about our AI-driven future.
While technology has always evolved (think assembly language to high-level programming), AI feels fundamentally different. It’s not just augmenting our capabilities – it’s potentially replacing our thinking processes.
What keeps me up at night:
🍩 Young people already struggling with deep work
🍩 Universities teaching “addiction optimization”
🍩 The path of least resistance becoming even easier
🍩 Loss of human connection in our rush for efficiency
During my #Samaritans shifts, the first thing many callers ask is “Are you a robot? I don’t want to talk to a robot.”
That tells us something profound about human nature and our need for real connection. I would really like to talk about how we can use AI not just to make things faster and cheaper, but to help us connect more deeply as humans.
That’s what really matters.
Would love to hear what you think.
