The Chess King is the ‘𝗪𝗵𝘆’.

The Chess King is the ‘𝗪𝗵𝘆’. 🤴🏻
Without the ‘Why’, there is no point to the game.
All is lost.

And the Queen, the all-powerful piece, is the ‘𝗛𝗼𝘄’. 👸🏻
– How are we going to win?
– How should we strategise?
– How should we use the resources we have to our best advantage?

I see the impatient Knight asking the ‘𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’ questions so that they can dominate the board. 🐴
– What should we attack?
– What’s the plan?
– What’s the approach? All config or all code? Or a mix?
– What user stories require what approach to get to the best solution?

The cunning Bishop is the one who’s the master of timing, and they know ‘𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻’
– When should we deploy our data migration specialist?
– When should we think about mobilising the offshore team?

The Rook becomes a powerful piece in the endgame, and determines ‘𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’ they should be to protect the king.
– Where should we be to be the most useful during the different stages of the project?

My preference (if possible) is to be onsite during Discovery and any workshops as well as potentially contentious meetings or project status updates, and remote during build/show & tells, and UAT.

And finally, the 𝗪𝗵𝗼. ♟
These would be the pawns… although I’m struggling to get some proper analogy here, because we don’t sacrifice anyone during a #Salesforce Project; not if we can help it!

The skill of Artful Questioning is critical for any #SalesforceConsultant, especially when they are wearing the #BusinessAnalysis hat. 🎩

Tomorrow, I am running another no-charge #PeiItForward workshop on Questioning Skills.

We will look at the power of asking the right (or wrong!) questions, and how they impact the energy and direction of the conversation.

I’m still in lovely Mexico and wifi is still spotty, but am hoping it will all go smoothly tomorrow 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
See you there?
