New hires into the #Salesforce Consulting world – be they graduates, interns or admins from an end-customer, are expected to be able to perform to standard as quickly as possible.
Most partners do not have a robust enough training programme to help them get ready, and so most end up in Quadrant I of Covey’s time management matrix.
If you live your life fighting fires 🚒🧯🔥, and you are constantly in crises (which is the plural of crisis), then you need to evaluate why that is.
As a practice lead or director, if your consulting team is stretched and you need to hire more resources to add slack – failing to train and support them into their roles will result in a lot of Quadrant I action.
Investing in Quadrant II will require you to put together a Graduate Training programme that includes a Foundation in Client facing Consulting Skills as well as Business Analysis.
They have to be able to elicit requirements, map and document processes, as well as managing stakeholders and clients well.
All on top of working well within the team AND perform their proper Salesforce config/code day job.
