How do you get someone to do what you want?

How do you get someone to do what you want?
You can force, manipulate, compel, coerce, convince, persuade, cajole, coax, and influence.

There’s a spectrum of tools that range from stick to carrot that are used in the corporate world to enforce behaviour and compliance.

The most powerful one is goodwill, and that is something that gets missed.

I’ve worked with people* who have gone above and beyond to help me out when we’ve been in sticky situations.
And it’s not the donuts** that compel that behaviour.

It’s goodwill.
It’s “credit” that you accrue by being kind, being understanding, and being human.

Work isn’t everything, and we have to remember that these are people who are making things work, and that we need to value them.

Once you understand that, you become unstoppable.

I have been able to move mountains not because of my incredibly big biceps and winning smile. 💪🏻 😁
It’s because of the team I have around me. 🤼

There’s really no magic formula to creating and running high performing teams.
Just Treat people with genuine kindness and respect, and you’ll find that it pays off in the end.
