“I hate him! The client loves him! His team loves him! He knows what he’s talking about! And he’s so frickin humble and nice!! ARG! He’s even making it so difficult for me to really hate him!! What a JERK!” 😫😅
We know these people… these ‘rock stars’ or ‘star performers’. 😊
They shine because they’re great at what they do.
They also have amazing people skills.
However, we should not confuse a ‘star performer’ with a ‘diva’ – who’s also a high achieving performer, but who can also be
demanding
disrespectful
arrogant…
In other words, a buttmunch. 😒
We want the real star performers, the A+ people, the ‘keepers’. 🤩
And we want to lose the divas, the toxic high performers, the A-holes.
Many people think that just because they’re clever, they can be a mean human being.
I’ve met quite a few in my life. 😫
They’ve been technical architects, project managers, the phD holders, the ones with many letters and stripes and badges and accolades.
Very few people understand that your hard skills will get you the job (your experience, skills and intellect, as well as those certs and degrees) but it’s the lack of soft human skills that will get you the boot. 👢
