The easiest way to mess up is to Not Meet Expectations.
💩

But really, it’s not rocket science at all.
We are talking about the Grasshopper 🦗, the most juniorest junior in the #Salesforce talent community.

She may be someone who’s just joined a Partner’s Graduate scheme.
She’s someone brand new to the whole Salesforce thing.

Actually, this particular rule can be applied universally.

Understand what is expectated of you, and meet it.
That’s what you were hired for.

So if you’re given a task, understand
– what you’re supposed to do
– what you need to prepare in order to do it
– if you are supposed to do it in a certain way
– who do you have to collaborate with to get it done
– when it needs to be done by
– how it should be done
– whether there is someone you can ask if you need help
– whether the task needs to be reviewed before it is submitted
– who is going to review that task
– what standards is expected of that task
– if there are previous examples you can model
– what the final output needs to be/look like
– what you need to do AFTER you’ve delivered that task

And then… Meet Those Expectations.

Ok, it looks quite scary when I break it down like that, but I wanted to be as comprehensive as possible.

I also need to state that you shouldn’t pepper your ‘task assigner’ (who may be your Project Manager, your Resource Manager, for example) with all the above questions.

Some of the answers may be deduced by observing and modelling someone who is currently doing that task.
But ask good questions (see tip no.2 in yesterday’s post) so that you are thoroughly clear on what’s expected of you.

For now, young Grasshopper – all you need to do is to meet the expectations of the assigned tasks well.
Surpassing expectations is even better, just not expected quite yet. 😁

What else might I have missed in terms of meeting expectations?
