I know, I know

I know, I know – I make it look glamourous… 😎
But it’s really my inner charm that you’re basking in. 😁

Being a #ProjectManager for a #Salesforce Partner isn’t all fun and games.

We really feel the pressure from three sides:

1. 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁
They usually want as much scope as they can get away with, but still want the project within budget and on time. 💰💰 🙄

Many junior PMs get annoyed and frustrated so I remind that it’s just human nature, and to manage it by building a strong relationship as a trusted partner.

This allows us to have candid conversations that can be potentially difficult, but very rewarding when we approach it as a team. 🤗

2. 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗿 (𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿)
As Project Managers, we want to keep the client happy by staying on budget, but if your performance bonus is tied into the amount of Change Requests (CRs) that you sign up – you’ll find yourself in a corner. 😣

Most partners know that a huge proportion of revenue can potentially come from the Delivery team, as we will have built trust during the implementation phase.

Clients will usually know that our suggestions for new features will be based more on needs of the business/project as opposed to trying to hit our quota for the quarter.

But us PMs are right in the middle of the two sides!

𝑪𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒕: Keep in budget!
𝑬𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒐𝒚𝒆𝒓: Sign more CRs and up our revenue!

No wonder many of us feel bruised on a daily basis🤕

3. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺
Some of my favourite people on the planet have worked with me on insane projects.

In fact, just last night during a regular catch up with a couple of ex-colleagues, a surprise entrance from one of my favourite CTAs on the planet, codename: 𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺 𝗢𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 appeared which really made my night 😍

They are why I do what I do the way I do it.

My goal is to make them look forward to
– coming to work
– working with their team
– doing work that matters
…towards a common goal

I do that by removing distraction from them, by coaching them to be leaders in their own right, and by supporting them in every way so that they can be the best version of themselves.

This is incredibly rewarding.

Being a Consulting Project Manager is not glam, but for many of us – it sure is deeply satisfying.
