My car is broken

“My car is broken. How long will it take to fix it?”

“I want a fancy wedding with flying pigs and juggling acrobats on a floating platform in the sky. How much will that be?” 🐷💰

“I need Sales Cloud (I think) and maybe Experience Cloud as well. How much will that cost me, and how long will it take?”

🙄

Estimating is an art.
It is not precise, but the more information you have, the better the estimates will be.
The only EXACT numbers you will have for both the cost and the timeline for a project is AFTER you’ve done it.

If you want a cost estimate from your #Salesforce Partner, or any other #CRM partner – make sure you gather as much information as possible in terms of
– what your issues are
– what your current landscape is (in terms of systems and data, and all that is interconnected)
– what you’d like to achieve, your end goal

Of course, many Partners will be doing their own Discovery to be able to propose the right solution, but the more information you have – the better equipped they will be to help you.

I’ve found that many organisations aren’t able to do this themselves, not unless they have an experienced Salesforce professional in their team.

Gemma Blezard runs The Architech Club (TAC), whose sole purpose is to sit between the customer and the Partner, and whose focus is on getting the right solution and delivering quality projects that will provide long term value for the customer.

Gemma and I were riffing on a Twitterspace (My first ever one! 😍) yesterday, and we talked about how customers can set themselves up for success by first getting their house in order, and how TAC can help if they don’t have internal Salesforce Architects on hand.

And no, she didn’t pay me for this – I genuinely believe that TAC provides deep value and plugs a gap in the market.

If you’re thinking of implementing Salesforce, and you haven’t the internal capability to help you make key decisions
– build or buy
– if buy, which Partner to engage
– what type of licenses you need
– etc etc
… then get in contact with TAC.

Gem – you can pay me in 🍩 or ☕ 😁
Seriously – you guys do good work!
