We can’t have everything all of the time.

When we have expectations that are unrealistic, we are bound to be disappointed, because life doesn’t work that way. 😐

“Please can we have all our requirements in the next two months, but not so expensive please. Also we have an event and fundraising deadline so you can’t bug our team for workshops so you’re going to have to figure out what we need using your psychic abilities.” πŸ™„πŸ˜¬

As a #salesforce consulting partner, we need to understand that this is normal human behaviour and we should not get upset by it.

This just means that we need to deploy our social skills of negotiation and charm to get to a common understanding of what’s achievable and feasible.

Allowing the client to believe they can get everything they want is unethical, but it’s such a common occurrence that it’s not funny anymore.

They might make for good stories at the pub, but they really grind my gears 😑

Our job as their trusted advisor is to make sure we can help them implement a system that addresses their needs, by taking into account all the constraints and risks appropriately.

That’s how we should do things.

With integrity.

And we need to remember that clients will try and get away with whatever they can and manage them with grace and humour.

I mean, I’ve been known to ask for a discount when buying donuts πŸ©πŸ˜‰

β€œHeyyy can I get a discount on these? Or maybe gimme an extra two? How about those on the counter? They look like they been there a week… But I don’t mind dry donuts!”
