Sometimes underneath fury lies deep sadness and fear.

Sometimes underneath fury lies deep sadness and fear.

Which is why I stay on the line.

Even if I get raged at.

Being a listening volunteer for #Samaritans means I get my fair share of abuse.

I know angry people who are vocal get dismissed often, and rightly so – especially if they start to become abusive.

But sometimes if I am patient,

and I listen long enough,

and I look past the anger…

I can see pain and fear.

And when they see that I see,

the anger fades away.

And that is when we connect as human beings.

I know that if I were in their shoes and have lived their life, I’d probably rage at the world in the same way.

#Empathy is key.

We can all #HumanBetter.
