It’s our super secret not-recorded after-hours Q&A chat

🤫 🤫🤫

It’s our super secret not-recorded after-hours Q&A chat at the Business Analyst Trailblazer group! Some of the things we talked about:

🍩Demo horror stories – power going out in a whole block, phone, laptop everything broken! Couldn’t communicate with anyone and the world ended! Lesson: Make sure you share your script demo in a shared drive

🍩Infighting and being ‘shushed’ while they slugged punches (metaphorically) at each other! 😯 I mean – have you ever seen two old biddies from “oop north” of Englad with crusty mascara attempt to slug each other because of a new system? Well I have!

🍩as consultants (or contractors), all we can do is to remind them is that the clock (and money) is still ticking – we would still have to bill our time, AND re-run that workshop to get what we need! 😬

🍩People who feel their power being taken away with the introduction of new system. Few lens to see this with: identity, politics, power base.

🍩We might get traction if we can find a way to help make people’s crown more shiny (for those who need shiny crowns) 👑

🍩User adoption requires understanding influence strategies – how to use empathy to disarm the other party. See Chris Voss – FBI negotiator and his book “Never split the difference” specifically using no-oriented questions (see comment for a link to the article)

🍩Understand when someone’s identity is tied to the software, or this magical spreadsheet they’ve built. Find out what this gives them (in terms of control or power) and then come up with a list of things the new system will give them (in terms of control or power)

Bet you wish you were there 😉

Make sure you sign up with the Business Analyst Trailblazer community group that I co-host with Vanessa Grant so you don’t miss the next one!

Thank you again Jasmine A. for today’s incredibly insightful session on “How to Demo like a Solution Engineer.” 🥰
