“Err I am pretty sure the Admissions Office is this way…”
We were lost… meandering aimlessly in the uncharacteristic Amsterdamian (??) heatwave… wiltering…. losing our will to live…
Sprog 2 and I are on a university whirlwind tour through Rotterdam, Amsterdam before heading to Prague where I am speaking at CzechDreamin, and I thought I had found the right place to go.
“How did you get the address?” Sprog 2 was a bit cross and grumpy.
“Did you use the AI overview on Google?”
😬
Eeep I was found out!
AI was wrong!
And did I hear the end of it? Nope.
I had also consulted ChatGPT on how to keep our swealtering oven-like non-ac’ed room cool in the scortching Dutch 🌞
It said to
☀️Keep the windows closed
☀️Keep the blinds shut
☀️And put white damp towels in front of the blinds to stop the black colour from absorbing the heat.
So anyway… I thought, why not just soak the towels (if damp is good – soaking must be even better?!) and hang them in front of the window. SUUURELY that must be better option…
😬😬😬
Wellllllll – we crawled back from the hot afternoon to a hot, muggy, damp, humid, jungly smell of our hotel room 😖
So you can imagine that Sprog 2 had a field day, telling me off about my poor use of AI which did not lead to the outcomes that I was expecting.
Ironic isn’t it – when it’s the topic of what I’m talking about this Friday?? 😝
Of course I do the RIGHT thing when using AI for work.
It’s just that.. um, well, ok I don’t have a good excuse other than laziness I suppose, when using it outside work I left my critical thinking brain on top of the coffee counter. 🧠
If nothing else, this makes for a great opening hook for my talk, no? 😁
This is another one in the series of my Well-Architected Framework talks.
Who will I see there???
