How honest are you?
No, really.
Do you pocket the protein and chocolate bars at companies that have a free-food-bar perk?
Do you do things that are close to the line because no one will find out?
Do you cover up mistakes or scapegoat someone else to keep your nose clean?
Do you fudge your expenses because everybody does it?
There are some with very strict moral codes and do the right things, as long as no one finds out.
Ethics.
Moral codes.
Principles.
It’s difficult to take these values seriously when we see some of the things the Church has done, or when a politician talks about his moral compass on Monday, and is found with his hand in the cookie jar on Friday.
However, in the consulting industry, and an ecosystem like #Salesforce, not having ethics or professional behaviour will tarnish your reputation.
Skilled SaConJa* conducts themselves with integrity, and behaves professionally at all times because if you don’t, people will know and that will tarnish your personal brand.
I know quite a few “consultants” that I wouldn’t touch with a barge pole, nor would I refer them new work either.
And the thing is, they will never know why.
