I am Miffed. 😠
I’ve always been in the #Delivery team of #ConsultingPartners, so I have not had much exposure to Sales.
I’m reading up about #SalesEnablement at #Salesforce and have come to realise how much resources and focus they’ve placed on the Sales and Marketing engine to Help Close Them Big Deals.
Why isn’t there a similar focus on #ConsultingEnablement?
Where are the sources, the materials, training, support, collateral, help guides, content, tools and information to support the #DeliveryTeam in order to implement great projects?
I can feel myself advancing from Miffed to Peeved.
I hear so many stories of new consultants who haven’t been looked after at Consulting Partners, and have been burned and broken by the experience.
– Projects that need to go-live Yesterday.
– Projects which have been undersold and over promised.
– With resources who are over stretched.
– Augmented by very green graduate grasshoppers who have just passed their admin cert.
– Where utilisation and billability is the key KPI.
All the ingredients for a horrible horrible experience.
And the collateral damage?
Human beings.
Those are the people you’ve promised the moon and the stars when they join the #Salesforce ecosystem.
“We are crying out for new talent, because we’re growing the job market.”
“Salesforce is number 1 – you can’t go wrong if you hitch your wagon on our star!”
And they are ecstatic when they first find their ‘dream job’, possibly with a boutique or a Big 4 (ish) Partner.
So many will hide their panic attacks, their depression and anxiety that set in due to the impossibly long hours and crazy pace.
Insomnia becomes another symptom.
It’s time we TRULY focus on the people delivering the projects.
We really need #ConsultingEnablement to come into sharp focus.
If the Mothership won’t do it, then the Partners must step up.
I know a few who do, but many, many, MANY who don’t.
Perhaps not out of malice, but more from neglect and carelessness. 😒
These are humans you are talking about.
People who are doing their DAMNEST to get that sh!t over the line.
Sigh.
I can feel myself moving from Peeved through the state of Vexed directly into the City of Angry.
I need some 🍩 now.
